Calligraphic Dirds

  • Sun Peaks Centre - Meeting Room A/B 3200 Village Way Sun Peaks, BC, V0E Canada (map)

CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS - Calligraphic Dirds

These little quirky ‘Calligraphic Dirds’ were developed by Suzie Beringer as another way in which she could use her lettering skills …BUT….they are so much fun to make whether you are a lettering artist or not. No calligraphic experience is required to create these fun and sassy little dirds.

Suzie will walk you through some basic lettering concepts and ideas as well as creating flapping wings, dirds on springs, dirds in song, etc…. There are many ways to display them which is part of the fun….the possibilities are endless! They make great gifts and are guaranteed to put a smile on someones face.

In this workshop you will be shown how to make these unique on-of-a-kind dirds while you express your own artistic voice.

Suzie will bring many samples of what she has done over the years. You will walk away with your own small flock of dirds. Suzie will provide all of the supplies. However, if you have a pair of scissors please bring them along but if not Suzie has you covered!

Suzie Beringer is a lettering artist who makes her home in the Pacific Northwest. With a degree in commercial art with a life-time passion for calligraphy and mark making, she is constantly exploring new possibilities and pushing herself creatively.   Her work has been published in Letter Arts Review as well as other publications.  As a teacher she loves to share her passion for mark making and design with others.  As an artist Suzie loves the challenge and discovery that lettering on different surfaces brings.  It has been said, that if something around her doesn't move quickly enough it may end up with letters on it!
