Friday, July 11 - Local Ruth Fane will be demonstrating some easy techniques for getting started in artistic sewing and quilting. It really is much easier than it looks! Ruth will give some hints and shortcuts for choosing materials that work together, customizing fabric using paints, dyes, or printing, and suggest some small projects suitable for beginners. Her grandson will explain the steps he took to make his first VERY original quilt at age 7.

Friday, July 18 - Local artist Wendy Lawson will demonstrate the fascinating process of spinning fibre into yarn. Using her spinning wheel, she’ll show how materials like wool, cotton, mohair, and qiviut are transformed into beautiful yarns ready for knitting, weaving, and more. Samples of fibre, yarn, and finished items will be on display.
