Join us at CREATE! Arts & Craft Festival as the Sage Hills Drum and Dance Group share their vibrant songs and traditions, carrying forward the voices of their ancestors while creating powerful connections with today’s audiences.
Rooted in the Kamloops area—Tk’emlúps, known to the Secwépemc people as “where the rivers meet”—the Sage Hills Singers have been sharing their powerful voices and drumming since 2003. With members representing diverse First Nations including Stoney, Sioux, Blood, Shuswap, Carrier, and Sto:lo, the group brings a deep cultural richness to every performance.
Over the years, Sage Hills has travelled extensively to powwows across Canada and the United States, from British Columbia to Ontario, and as far as California and Washington. Their music has been celebrated nationally, with multiple albums released, including Go for What You Know (2004), Sage Hills (2011)—a finalist for “Best Powwow CD – Traditional” at both the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards and the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards—and Grandfathers (2013).
