In addition to seasonal staff positions, we are actively interested in hearing from workshop hosts of all abilities and artistic modalities—working across visual arts, crafts, movement, music, storytelling, and beyond. We offer programming for all ages, from children and youth to adults, and welcome both emerging and experienced facilitators. Position Summary
The Camp Host is the lead staff member for Art Zone Summer Camps, responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, fun, and engaging environment for children aged 5–12. The Camp Host leads daily activities, supports and supervises Camp Facilitators and Assistants, and acts as the primary point of contact for campers and families during the program.This role is ideal for someone who loves working with children, thrives in a creative environment, and is excited to spend their summer leading hands-on art, movement, and play-based experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily camp programming and activities in collaboration with Art Zone staff and facilitators
Supervise and engage campers, ensuring their safety, inclusion, and wellbeing at all times
Provide guidance and direction to Camp Assistants and support staff
Foster a positive, respectful, and welcoming camp culture
Manage daily routines including arrivals, transitions, breaks, and departures
Communicate professionally and warmly with parents/guardians as needed
Handle minor conflicts, challenges, or behavioural concerns with patience and care
Ensure camp spaces and materials are organized, safe, and well-maintained
Follow all Art Zone policies, safety guidelines, and child protection practices
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience working with children (camp, childcare, education, recreation, or similar)
Outgoing, energetic, and confident leading groups of children
Highly organized, punctual, and responsible
Resourceful, adaptable, and calm under pressure
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Passion for creativity, arts, movement, or community programming is an asset
Requirements
Must be willing to complete a Criminal Record Check
First Aid certification recommended (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to be active and on your feet for extended periods

Position Summary
The Camp Assistant supports the Camp Host in delivering fun, safe, and engaging summer camp experiences for children aged 5–12. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with kids, contributing to a team, and being part of a creative and lively camp environment.Camp Assistants play an essential role in supporting activities, supervising campers, and helping camps run smoothly day to day.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Camp Host and facilitators during daily camp activities
Assist with supervising campers during programs, transitions, breaks, and free play
Help set up, clean up, and organize activity spaces and materials
Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and inclusion among campers
Provide individual support to campers as needed
Follow direction from the Camp Host and Art Zone staff
Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment
Qualifications & Skills
Some experience working with children is an asset (volunteering, babysitting, camps, recreation, etc.)
Friendly, enthusiastic, and approachable
Reliable, punctual, and responsible
Willingness to learn, take direction, and support a team
Interest in arts, creativity, or working in community programs is a bonus
Requirements

Art Zone Sun Peaks is looking for creative, passionate Workshop Hosts to lead engaging arts and culture workshops for our community. We welcome hosts of all abilities and artistic modalities, including (but not limited to) visual arts, crafts, mixed media, movement, music, storytelling, wellness-based creativity, and interdisciplinary practices.
Our programming serves all ages — children, youth, and adults — and we are excited to work with both emerging and experienced facilitators who are enthusiastic about sharing their skills in a welcoming, inclusive, and community-focused environment.
As a Workshop Host, you will have creative input into your workshop concept, delivery style, and audience, with support from Art Zone for logistics, promotion, registration, and administration.
