Learn to Play Ukulele – Beginner Lessons

Interested in learning to play the ukulele? The Ukulele Orchestra of Kamloops is offering introductory lessons for beginners with little to no experience who are excited to get started!

These sessions will be held at The Annex on Friday afternoons May 8 & 15, and led by Dick Taylor of the Kamloops Ukulele Orchestra. More dates may be added based on interest.

Participants will learn:

  • Parts of the ukulele and string names

  • Simple one, two, and three chord songs

  • Strumming techniques and chord progressions

  • Basic music terminology (key, chord, bar, time signatures)

  • Practice techniques to build confidence

  • How to use apps and tools for managing songs and chords

  • Playing in a group setting

What You’ll Need:

  • Ukulele (can be borrowed from the Library, or rented)

  • Tuner

  • Binder for handouts

  • Pen or pencil

  • Music stand (let us know if you need to borrow one)

  • And a smile

A small amount of practice between sessions will help you get the most out of these lessons.

Open to ALL ages 12yrs + 

Cost: $20 covers both sessions
