The Sun Peaks Film Festival returns January 14–16 for three evenings celebrating local creativity, grassroots storytelling, and inspiring films from around the world.
Now in its 7th year, the Sun Peaks Film Festival brings the VIMFF World Tour to Sun Peaks, offering our audience the opportunity to experience unforgettable adventure and outdoor films .
The heart of our festival is a commitment to grassroots filmmaking and local storytelling. We believe great stories don’t have to come from big production companies or faraway places: they’re being created right here in our region. The festival provides a welcoming platform for local and emerging filmmakers to share their work, connect with audiences, and celebrate the unique people, places, and experiences that make our mountain communities special.
A highlight of the festival is the Local Filmmakers’ Night, showcasing the talent and creativity of filmmakers from Sun Peaks and the surrounding region. Saturday evening also features the ever-popular Local Filmmakers Contest, proudly sponsored this year by McSporties, The Truth Skate & Snow, and the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission. This grassroots competition puts local creators in the spotlight, giving emerging filmmakers an opportunity to share their stories on the big screen and compete for prizes.
