The Mixed Media Art Lab is an open-ended, creativity-first workshop where kids are encouraged to experiment, explore, and create using a wide variety of art materials.
Rather than following a step-by-step project, children will move through a guided creative process that emphasizes self-expression, imagination, and hands-on discovery.
Participants will have access to materials such as paint, markers, crayons, paper, cardboard, magazines, fabric scraps, natural or found objects, and basic crafting supplies. Kids can layer, cut, glue, draw, and paint to create one-of-a-kind artworks that reflect their own ideas and interests.
Hosted by Janice Hoppenreys, simple themes and prompts will be introduced (for example: “build a world,” “tell a story,” “patterns and textures,” or “art inspired by nature”), and children will be supported as they choose their materials and approach. This structure keeps the workshop accessible while allowing plenty of freedom for creativity.
